Primary Crushers – Jaw and Gyratory. Within the crushing circuit, a primary crusher reduces material down to a size that can be conveyed and fed to the secondary crushing circuit. The two most common primary crushers used for coarse run-of-mine material are the jaw and gyratory crushers.
Run of Mine (ROM) ore will be delivered by haul truck to a primary gyratory crusher located to the north west of the K58W pit. The high-grade (HG) primary crushed ore will be processed through a dry crushing and screening plant to produce HG lump and HG fines product.

The primary gyratory crusher crushes the ROM ore from a nominal top size of 1,500mm to less than 200mm. Oversize material is deposited on the ROM pad to be further broken by a mobile rock breaker. Crusher product is then conveyed via overland conveyor to a conical crushed ore stockpile with 12 hours live capacity.
The KCM can simulate wear in both gyratory and cone crushers, with or without regulated setting controls. The wear simulation allows a user to predict the economically optimal time to replace liners, given any set of material type, duty, throughput and product quality requirements.
The materials used in the course of this project included the flowsheet of the existing iron ore processing plant, iron ore samples taken from the west pit of the Itakpe iron ore mine, the products of the primary gyratory crusher, material from the blending yard, repartition bin and tailings dump. Various laboratory equipments

The largest primary gyratory crushers cost US $2 million or more, while overall crushing plant costs can be as high as $18 million. It’s necessary therefore to estimate crusher installation costs based on equipment costs plus the following direct costs, including construction contractor indirects: • Earthworks • Mechanical

The gyratory crusher has capacities starting from 1200 to above 5000 t/h. To have a feed opening corresponding to that of a jaw crusher, the primary gyratory crusher must be much taller and heavier. Therefore, primary gyratories require quite a massive foundation. The cone crusher is a modified gyratory crusher.
Before the advent of the Symons cone crusher the usual practice was to make a 2-in. product in two steps consisting of a primary breaker of the jaw or gyratory type followed by a secondary gyratory crusher. If anything smaller were desired, a third stage was added comprising coarse crushing rolls in closed circuit with a screen.
Impact Crushers; Typical rules for primary crusher selection: Rule 1: Always use a jaw crusher if you can due to lower costs. Rule 2: For low capacity applications, use jaw crusher and hydraulic hammer for oversize. Rule 3: For high capacities, use jaw crusher with big intake openings. Rule 4: For very high capacities, use gyratory crusher.

following are either obsolete types of gyratory crushers, of which many are still in service, or are older designs with extremely limited capacity: long-shaft spider-suspended gyratory crusher, fixed-shaft gy- ratory crusher, and short-shaft gearless gyratory crusher. The gyratory crusher, whether used as a primary or secondary.
The primary crushing circuit will comprise up to five semi-mobile, independent, gyratory crushers (3 x ThyssenKrupp KB 63 x 89 and 2 x ThyssenKrupp KB 63 x 130) operating in open circuit. Each crusher will be positioned in-pit and remote from the plant area, and crushed ore will be transported to the plant by an overland conveyor.

This entire Gyratory Crusher is engineered from the ground up with Safety and Maintenance in mind. The feature that distinguishes the "TS" design from other Gyratory r Crushers is * that the "TS" machine is designed to be Serviced & Maintained from an Overhead Crane. The Eccentric & Flydraulic Cylinder Assemblies are removed through the crusher
